Something different!

Hi!  I took a little break from card making this week.  A friend asked me to come up with a simple-yet-elegant pendant and earring set for her.  She's going to be giving them to another friend.  I decided to do a few sets and let her choose.  These are what I came up with:

This stone is Kyanite.  I wish I was better able to capture the beauty of the stone with my camera.  The chatoyance is amazing.  There is some interesting information on the metaphysical properties of kyanite here.

This is Charoite and again my camera skills fail me.  These stones are also filled with fire.  They must be seen to be believed!  Charoite is said to be a stone of transformation and is used to overcome fears.  It's also used to stimulate your inner vision.

When I bought these stones they were not named.  They look like turquoise, but I don't want to misrepresent them.  They ARE pretty!

This set and the next both are made with Chrysoprase.  I think it's interesting that Chrysoprase is supposed to ward off negative energy.  It's also considered a symbol of friendship and good luck.

I added Swarovski crystals to all of the earrings and a couple of the pendants, and the wire in each piece is sterling silver.

Which set, if any, do YOU like best?

A challenge and some other stuff

Leigh at HappiScrappin Challenge Blog is having a shape challenge!  Any card shape that is NOT square or rectangle will qualify.  I made this card:

using my Spellbinders Nestabilites scallopped oval dies, a beautiful bird with flowers that is one of Leigh's FREEBIES, my Copics, and a couple of flowers with a brad in the center.

Also, today was the ATC swap.  The theme this month was Postage and this is the trading card I made:

There are a couple of different stamp companies that I can't remember off the top of my head.  I used my Silhouette to cut the mailbox and flag, then misted the mailbox with Perfect Pearls.  I put some Glitter pen on the envelope to bring out the flap detail.  I hope they like it!

The ATC club has a rule... every member must wear a nametag.  Last month I was forgiven since it was my first month, but this morning I got up and made this:

I used my Vagabond, stamps from Inkadinkado, Savvy Stamps, and Stampers Anonymous, my Silhouette SD, and a bunch of bling.  I also laminated it, which did NOT work very well.  Live and learn!  It's good enough for now, if it starts to fall apart I'll rethink it.

I think that's enough for now!  Have a fabulous week.

A shared challenge

My darling daughter asked me to join her in a challenge at Tiddly Inks.  They're having a bunny hop challenge, and this is the card I made with one of their adorable bunny digis:

She is colored with Copics and her outfit and eyes are outlined with my Glitter pen, because I love it.  =D

I hope you like her!

My brother's birthday!

Today is my brother Jamie's birthday... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LITTLE BROTHER!  He was a total pain in my buttocks when I was a teenager, but has grown up to be the coolest guy.  I'm lucky to have him as my one and only brother, and I love him dearly.

Recently Jamie has become the proud owner of not one, but TWO Jeeps.  He's having one of them modified with a lift kit and all the toys.  In honor of his new money sucking hobby  I made him this card:

Cute, right?  =D

I have a ton of projects I need to complete today.  More later!
